Community Spaces

Making more of the places we share.

Every community has ideas, local talent and opportunities that deserve space to grow.

Oak Works is exploring how modular spaces could help councils, community organisations, charities and local partners make better use of suitable sites and create places for learning, enterprise and community activity.

Space for local opportunities

Community hubs

Create a base for local activities, small groups, information services and community initiatives.

Learning and skills

Explore spaces for practical workshops, training activities, mentoring and skills development.

Local enterprise

Provide opportunities to support start-ups, independent traders, makers and emerging businesses.

Reimagining underused sites

Consider how suitable areas of land or existing hardstanding could accommodate useful new facilities.

Start small. Build on what works.

We believe community projects should respond to local needs rather than begin with a one-size-fits-all solution. A modular approach could allow projects to be explored in phases, starting with an initial space and considering further facilities as the need and resources become clearer.

We are particularly interested in exploring partnerships that connect practical spaces with local enterprise, skills development and wider community benefits. Every proposal would need to be assessed with the relevant landowner and partners, taking account of planning, accessibility, safety, funding and long-term operation.

Have an idea for your community?

We welcome conversations with councils, community groups, charities, landowners and potential funding or delivery partners. If you have a site, a local need or an idea worth exploring, we'd like to hear from you. Let's explore what's possible together.
